Singing in the Rain to make a splash here!

Being a lover for musicals and plays, I jumped in excitement when I received an invitation to watch Singin' in the Rain musical which was held at the Marina Bay Sands Mastercard Theatre.

In summary, the storyline brings us back to the late 20's , the early years of Hollywood film making when it was still making silent movies and with the introduction of audio recording, it rolls out a series of events which led the cast to find out about some of the technical issues that it comes with, things such as microphone placement issues and also audio/video synchronization issues which churned out lots of laughter and applause from the audience. Apart of finding out issues, there were also solutions and techniques that came up, such as sound dubbing and lip syncing.

The story goes as popular silent film star, Don Lockwood together with co-star Lina Lamont and friend, Cosmo Brown get caught in the transition from silent films to talking pictures (films w/ audio) and through a chain of event which got Don Lockwood falling in love with Kathy Selden, who would later in the play, be the voice of Lina Lamont to help save the production ' The dueling cavalier ' because of Lina's terrible voice.

I suppose the favourite scene for everyone is where rain pours down after Don Lockwood walks Kathy Selden home and start dancing in the "rain". Waves of rain water were swishing towards the front row audiences! Oh yes, if you were wondering, they were given ponchos and we saw some of them rushing to put on their ponchos for protection!
